Bogotá to Host the VIII International Congress on Health Systems

Mar 11, 2026

On May 6 and 7, 2026, Bogotá will host the VIII International Congress on Health Systems, an academic and policy dialogue space that will bring together researchers, health professionals, public policy makers, and institutional representatives from several Latin American countries.

The event will take place at the Félix Restrepo Auditorium of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, with both in-person and virtual participation. This format will allow for a broader exchange of experiences, knowledge, and perspectives among academic, institutional, and social actors interested in strengthening health systems in the region.

Under the theme “Health in Transformation: Latin American Dialogues on Reforms, Equity, and the Future of Health Systems,” the congress seeks to foster reflection and debate on the main challenges facing health systems in Latin America. Key topics will include health system governance, financing and sustainability, the organization and delivery of health services, and the development of system resources, including human resources for health, technologies, and health information

systems.

The program will feature keynote lectures, panel discussions, research presentations, and academic exchange sessions, providing opportunities to share research findings, experiences, and proposals aimed at strengthening public policies and improving the responsiveness of health systems to current challenges.

The congress is organized by the Institute of Public Health of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, in collaboration with the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana – Bogotá, the National University of Colombia, the Universidad del Rosario, the SALHSA Program (Health, Systems and Services in Latin America), the CLIMAS Hub, and other academic programs engaged in education and research on health systems and policies in the region.

From the CLIMAS Hub, we welcome this event as an important opportunity to strengthen regional dialogue, promote institutional collaboration, and contribute to the development of more equitable, sustainable, and people-centered health systems.
