Doctor and epidemiologist with over 30 years of experience in public health, health systems management, climate change, and public policy. Over the past 20 years, her work has focused on
integrating climate information into public health surveillance and strengthening capacities in Latin America and other regions of the world.

She graduated with a medical degree from the Escuela de Medicina and holds a Master’s in Health Administration from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. She also has specialisations in Epidemiology from the Universidad del Rosario and in University Teaching from the Universidad El Bosque. She also obtained a Master’s in Climate and Society from Columbia University in New York, where she worked as a public health expert and associate researcher at
the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI).

She has worked as Director of Public Health at the District Health Secretariat of Bogotá and as Deputy Director of Public Health Surveillance at the National Institute of Health. In this role, she
oversaw the redesign of the national surveillance system and the development of the inaugural National Plan for Climate Change Adaptation and Health in Colombia. She has also coordinated
training institutes and workshops on climate and health for healthcare professionals in Latin America, Africa and Asia, and advised organisations such as PAHO, CIAT, OTCA, AECID,
Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá and the Red Cross Climate Centre.

She is currently a member of the coordinating committee of the Global Consortium on Climate and Health Education (Columbia University), a reviewer for the Field Epidemiology Training
Program (TEPHINET) accreditation process, an advisor to the Science and Policy Committee of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Climate Change and Health, and the author of numerous scientific and technical publications on health and climate change. Her work has contributed to the design of tools for early warning, risk analysis, and adaptation strategies for climate-sensitive diseases such as dengue, malaria, and respiratory diseases.
