Gina Polo - Coordinadora General. Centro de Cambio Climático y Salud para América Latina y el Caribe (CLIMAS)
Professor and Researcher at the Institute of Public Health, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Her research focuses on health and the environment, with an emphasis on mathematical and spatial modeling of neglected tropical diseases (vectors and zoonoses).

She holds a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia (2005-2010), an MSc (2011-2013) in Experimental Epidemiology Applied to Zoonoses from the University of São Paulo, Brazil, and a PhD (2013-2017) in Epidemiology with a focus on mathematical and spatial modeling of infectious diseases. She completed a doctoral internship at the Brockmann Lab – Research on Complex Systems at the Robert Koch Institute and Humboldt University of Berlin (2016-2017). Additionally, she specialized in machine learning (University of Washington, 2016).

Her postdoctoral research includes work at the National Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM, Brazil, 2018-2019), applying machine learning techniques for drug discovery, and at the District Institute of Biotechnology and Innovation in Health (IDCBIS-Colombia/MinCiencias, 2021-2022), applying artificial intelligence techniques in umbilical cord cell-based therapies.
